Portugal Entry Requirements

Below are the entry requirements for Portugal. Please note these are fluid and can change with little notice. Please see above and note the “last updated” date. You will also find a link(s) to the most up-to-date information which we encourage you to review the week prior to travel. The following information applies to those with a Canadian passport and who are fully vaccinated. If this does not apply to you, please contact your Travel Advisor.

Most travellers from Canada with proof of full COVID-19 vaccination can enter Portugal, but there are restrictions.   

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

Travel is allowed with restrictions
Travellers are allowed to enter Portugal. Please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements before travelling. Travellers unable to present a vaccination certificate recognized as valid by the Portuguese government are required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travellers. COVID-19 TESTING

No proof of negative pre-departure COVID-19 test results for vaccinated travellers
Travellers with vaccination certificates issued in Canada are not required to have negative COVID-19 test results before travelling to Portugal. Currently, only the EU Digital COVID Certificate of vaccination and vaccination certificates issued by third countries under reciprocal conditions are accepted. Please see mandatory proof of vaccination details on accepted certificates. Travellers unable to present a valid certificate recognized by the Portuguese government will be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travellers.

Travellers under the age of 12 are exempted from showing proof of vaccination or pre-travel negative test results.

No visa required

DOCUMENTS YOU NEED FOR YOUR TRIP

Mandatory proof of vaccination for Portugal
Travellers who are fully vaccinated arriving from Canada may present a valid vaccination certificate issued in these countries, depending on their airline. Travellers must have received all doses required of the vaccine, including a combination of 2 different vaccines, at least 14 days before travel and no more than 270 days before travel. Travellers that have received a booster dose may have had their last dose outside the 14-270 day window. Vaccine certificates issued by third countries are accepted under reciprocal conditions and must be with a vaccine approved by the EMA (Janssen, AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria, Moderna/Spikevax, Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Novavax/Nuvaxovid), or Sinopharm (Vero Cell), Sinovac (Coronavac), Bharat Biotech International (Covaxin), Verity Pharmaceuticals, Fiocruz, or R-Pharm. Travellers with access to the EU Digital Certificate, non-EU countries with certificates accepted by the EU Digital COVID Certificate system, or NHS COVID Pass may use it to present proof. Travellers unable to present a vaccination certificate recognized as valid by the Portuguese government are required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travellers. Please contact your airline to confirm if your proof of vaccination will be accepted.
