GREEK ISLANDS FOOD & WINE ADVENTURE WITH PETE LUCKETT ITINERARY*


FRIDAY, May 7 – Overnight flight to Athens, Greece.

SATURDAY, May 8 – Morning arrivals at Athens airport. You will be met at the airport for a private transfer to our traditional Greek hotel in Athens. You will have time to rest and relax before meeting up with Pete and our travelling companions for a delicious Welcome Dinner featuring authentic Greek cuisine and local wines. D

SUNDAY, May 9 – Following breakfast at our hotel, we’ll meet up with Pete for a stroll around our Athens neighborhood. We will end up at the iconic Acropolis archeological site where we’ll join our local guide to explore the archeological masterpieces of Athens’s Golden Age. We’ll step back in time with the assistance of Augmented Reality software to experience the site as it appeared thousands of years ago. Later, we have a delicious late lunch with wine planned. We’ll walk back to our hotel, where the evening is on your own, or join Pete for drinks and a late snack. B L

MONDAY, May 10 – We have a wonderful, full day ahead of us today, exploring one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. After breakfast, we head out to the region of Corinth. We will visit three of the best wineries (and Pete’s favourites) in the area, meeting the vintners and tasting the wines. Afterward, we head to the lovely, historic city of Nafplio, where we’ll stroll around taking in some of the historic sites. Later this afternoon, Pete will treat you to a wonderful seafood lunch before heading back to our hotel. The balance of the evening is on your own. B L

TUESDAY, May 11 – This morning we bid farewell to Athens. Following breakfast, we take a private transfer to Athens airport to catch our fight to Santorini, arriving there late morning. En route from the airport we’ll stop at a wonderful winery and our first taste of Santorini before arriving at our hotel. There will be time to relax before we head out to dine at one of the most historic and celebrated restaurants overlooking the sea and the volcano. We’ll enjoy a dinner with wine and one of the most fairy-tale ambiences to be found in Greece. This is quintessential Santorini. B D

WEDNESDAY, May 12 – We have a full day experiencing the very best of the island. Following breakfast we will visit the traditional village of Pyrgos and a have a brief stroll around, experiencing an authentic Santorini town. Then we head to the highest point of the island, Profitis. Be sure to have your camera to capture the spectacular views. We continue on to Akrotiri, often considered the Pompeii of Greece. Preserved in volcanic ash, Akrotiri provides a fascinating glimpse of the Minoan civilization, dating back to 2700 BC, and now frozen in time. Later we’ll be welcomed at an acclaimed local taverna with a chilled glass of ouzo and a sampling of local specialties. Then join Pete and the taverna’s master chefs for a fun cooking demonstration, resulting in a wonderful late lunch. We’ll return to our hotel and take in an amazing Santorini sunset. B L

THURSDAY, May 13 – After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel before heading out to discover one of Santorini’s preeminent wineries – Santo Wines. We’ll enjoy a tour and a tasting. Later, we’ll have a wonderful interactive active lunch and cooking demonstration. You can be as hands-on as you wish, or just sit back, sip and enjoy the fun. Afterward we will all head to the Port of Athinios to board our ferry to sail to the beautiful island of Crete. Our destination – Heraklion. We arrive early this evening and check in to our luxurious beach resort, hand-picked by Pete – our home for the next four nights. B L

FRIDAY, May 14 – We have a fabulously full day ahead, immersing ourselves in the scenery, traditions, food, drink and music of the island. After breakfast, we head to the city of Rethymnon with its winding streets and picturesque harbourfronts. First stop is to meet a colorful, 82-year-old Phyllo Pastry Master, see him at work, and learn about (and sample!) Kan-taifi, one of Greece’s best-loved desserts. Then we visit a traditional Greek farm… Baking bread in a wood-burning oven… Learning to make traditional stuffed vegetables… And tasting cheeses made from the milk of the farm’s goats and sheep. A local artist will show us how Cretan knives are made, before we enjoy a farm-fresh lunch with wine. Then it’s back to our hotel for a quick refresh before the special night Pete has arranged for us. A wonderful Greek family will welcome us to their home for an evening you won’t forget. We’ll join them in their garden for a traditional “meal in the yard,” featuring Cretan specialties, drink and live Cretan music. B L D 

SATURDAY, May 15 – Today is a day fit for royalty. After breakfast, we will go to a restored historic mansion – now a special restaurant that captures the essence of Crete’s pure and natural produce. Crete is covered in olive groves. We’ll meet up with an olive-oil sommelier for a tasting, before joining the chef for a cooking lesson and a lunch with wine. Then we visit a beautiful patisserie and meet Giannis and hear his family’s story. Together we’ll make and enjoy traditional Bougatsa pastry with powdered sugar and oriental cinnamon. We round out the day with a visit to the majestic Palace of Knossos, once home to King Minos. This evening is on your own. B L

SUNDAY, May 16 – This is a full, free day to relax and enjoy our lovely 5-star beach resort… hang out by the pool or the beach, or have a spa treatment. This evening, Pete has arranged a Farewell Dinner - a private beach BBQ, featuring local lamb and produce. B D

MONDAY, May 17– Departure day. Private transfer from the hotel to catch your flight home. B

Cancellation Policy: Once full payment has been received, the tour is considered non-cancellable. A nonrefundable deposit of $1500 per person is required at time of booking. A second nonrefundable deposit of $2500 per person is due on or before Sept 26, 2020. Final payment is required on or before Jan 7, 2021. All payments are fully refundable if the tour does not occur.
