FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 – Overseas travel to Venice, Italy
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 – Arrive at Venice Airport. You will be met by a
Maritime Travel representative at the international arrivals area. From there,
you will be provided a transfer to our hotel in Venice. The balance of the
afternoon is yours to rest and rejuvenate. Later this evening we will meet up
with Charline at one of her favorite restaurants and enjoy a welcome dinner
with wine as we get to know our travelling companions. To bed early this
evening to rest up for our adventure ahead.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 – Following breakfast at our hotel, we will pick
up our transfer to Tronchetto, where we will board our private water launch,
which will take us to Piazza San Marco for our walking tour of Venice.
This will include the Piazza San Marco, the Basilica San Marco and the Doges
Palace. This afternoon, join us for a visit to the island of Burano, known for its
fishermen and lace-makers. There will be time for lunch on your own, and to
explore this lovely island before we head back to San Marco and some more
free in time in Venice. We will make our own way back to our hotel. Supper
and the balance of the evening will be on your own. Be sure to get some
great suggestions from Charline, or perhaps join her!
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 – After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel.
We are in for a treat, as we will make our way to Umbria and the beautiful
mountaintop village of Gubbio. En route, we will stop at Ravenna which was
the capital city of the Roman Empire in the 5th Century. Located near the
Adriatic Sea, Ravenna is renowned for its 6th century mosaics. There will be
time for lunch before we continue on to Gubbio, one of the most beautiful
Medieval towns in Umbria, known for its ceramics and for having been a
frequent haunt of St. Francis of Assisi. We will check into our hotel. After
checking into your hotel the balance of the day is on your own.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 – After breakfast, we will be getting together
for a fabulous cooking class at our hotel. You can choose to participate as
much or as little as you like. Our lunch today will be the fruits of our labors
in the Italian kitchen! The afternoon and evening will be on your own to
enjoy this gorgeous town. Charline will point the way to some of her favorite
areas.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 – Following breakfast, we will make our
way to wonderful Tuscany. Our first stop will be Siena, known as the best-preserved
Medieval city in Europe. We will enjoy the famous Piaza del
Campo, where there will be time to explore and to have lunch on your
own. Charline will give you some suggestions. This evening, you are in for
a real treat and one of the true highlights of our adventure. We will visit
Villa Vignamaggio, where we will enjoy a cellar tour and a fabulous-tasting
dinner with wines. You will be aglow and satisfied as we board our coach
and head to Florence for an evening arrival and check-in at our hotel, our
home for the next three nights.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 – Good morning, Firenze! We will enjoy
breakfast at our hotel, before meeting our local guide for a walking tour of
Florence, which will include the Piazza Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and Piazza
della Signoria. Lunch and the balance of the day are on your own. Later, if
you wish, you can meet up with Charline at one of her favorite trattorias.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 – Make sure you eat a good breakfast, as this
will be our shopping day in Florence. Charline will point you in the right
direction and highlight some of the best places for the best prices. Leather,
silk, jewelry, shoe stores, handbags, clothing – you will be overwhelmed.
You can also visit Michelangelo’s David or the famous Uffizi museum. Lunch
will be on your own but we will get together in the evening for a wonderful
supper at Charline’s favorite local restaurant.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 – After breakfast, we leave for Rome and
an early afternoon arrival at our hotel. We’ll grab a quick lunch en route.
After check-in, we will meet up at our hotel lobby for a walking tour of Rome,
including Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Tonight, we gather together for
a fabulous Roman meal at one of Charline’s favorite restaurants.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 – Following breakfast, we will make our way
to Vatican City. Once there we will meet up with our private guide, Cinzia
Cortese. She will make the world of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St.
Peter’s Basilica come alive. Lunch and the balance of the day and evening
will be on your own. Don’t forget to get some tips from Charline!
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 – This morning we say goodbye to Rome, and
make our way to the Amalfi Coast. En route we will visit the fascinating
preserved remains of Herculaneum – sister city to Pompeii. Though
not as
well known, the remnants of this civilization are said to be better preserved
than those of Pompeii. We will enjoy a private, guided tour. We will then
arrive in the town of Amalfi and check in to our hotel. The balance of the day
is free for you to enjoy and explore on your own.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1 & WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2 – These are fabulous
free days for you to explore and experience the stunning Amalfi coast.
After breakfast each day, get some insider tips from Charline… Go to
Ravello, or Positano or Capri (an easy boat ride away), or just sit back on
your own and enjoy the lovely beach across the street from the hotel.
You can also spend the day with Charline on some excursions, if you prefer.
The possibilities are endless. Wednesday evening, we will meet up for a
farewell dinner and toast our new friends and many amazing experiences.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3 – After breakfast, we will say farewell to the
Amalfi Coast and Italy and make our way to Naples Airport to catch our
