The affable and popular owner of Luckett Vineyards built one of Atlantic Canada’s best-known brands – Pete’s Fine Foods. For 14 years he appeared on CBC’s national TV show, Midday, where he showcased exotic fruits and vegetables. His food adventure TV series, The Food Hunter, aired internationally for 3 seasons and enticed viewers with worldwide flavours and travel discoveries. Pete has hosted food and wine tours of Italy, Argentina, Spain, Slovenia, South Africa, and New Zealand with Maritime Travel. When he’s not travelling the world, you can find him in Nova Scotia’s enchanting Gaspereau Valley, where he produces spectacular wines. 





FRIDAY, APRIL 26 – Overnight flight to Porto, Portugal

SATURDAY, APRIL 27 – Morning arrivals at Porto airport. You will be met at the airport for a private transfer to our beautiful villa, located in the green, central region of Portugal, just over an hour from Porto. This afternoon, enjoy our sprawling private residence, or simply relax by the pool. This evening we gather for drinks and a Welcome Dinner with wine, featuring Pete and a local Portuguese chef. D

SUNDAY, APRIL 28 – Following breakfast at the villa, we have a wonderful day of adventure planned, as we head out to explore the best of the Douro Valley. We will take in spectacular sightseeing, have lunch at a top restaurant, and enjoy premium wine tastings at two top wine estates. We’ll also be treated to a one-hour private boat cruise and a 4-wheel-drive tour through the Tua region. A full day where everything is wonderful and everything is included. This evening relax at our villa and enjoy a light dinner and snacks. B L D

MONDAY, APRIL 29 – This morning, after breakfast, we head to the Atlantic Coast and the Aveiro area, less than an hour away. Weather permitting, earlyrisers may want to join Pete for an optional sunrise Hot Air Balloon ride over this area known as the Venice of Portugal. While here we will explore the area and visit the nearby beach town of Costa Nova. We’ll enjoy lunch there and visit a local Fish Market with Pete. We’ll select the freshest of seafood delicacies before heading back to our villa late this afternoon. This evening, Pete cooks up a seafood dinner with wine. You can join in the cooking or sit back and watch the fun. B L D

– This is our surprise day. Following breakfast, Pete has planned a surprise experience for our group. He won’t say what it is, but it’s sure to include food, fun and more than a few laughs. B D

– This is a food-and-wine lovers dream day. We’ll head into the valley later this morning with visits to some of the top wineries in the area, where we’ll enjoy private tastings and stroll the vineyards. We’ll enjoy lunch with local wines. Later this afternoon, we return to the villa where we’re in for a treat. Our local chef returns to prepare for us a traditional Portuguese Roast Suckling Pig Dinner. B L D

– After breakfast, we are heading inland for a chance to experience authentic Portugal. Our destination is the small. historic city of Viseu, nestled in the hills in the centre of the country. We’ll explore the unique regional capital, which still retains much of its Medieval character. Later, we will be guests at a family eatery and enjoy a home-made lunch of local specialties. There will be free time in the afternoon to explore and shop before we return this evening to our villa, just 40 minutes away. We will enjoy a light supper and drinks this evening. B L D

FRIDAY, MAY 3 – After a leisurely breakfast, we will have time to relax this morning before saying goodbye to our villa. We are heading to Porto to see a side of the city that visitors rarely experience. We will discover real food, real people, and real passion as we stroll the back streets with Pete and a local guide. Our foodie journey will include a visit to the bustling Bolhão food market, 10 food tastings with a perfect balance of sweet and savory, and more. Later this afternoon, we will check into our hotel, and have the evening at leisure. B L

– Get set for adventure – by river and by rail. We will head to the Porto waterfront, where we’ll board our river boat and cruise up the Douro river along the stunning terraced hills dotted with wineproducing farms and manor houses. En route, we’ll enjoy breakfast and lunch onboard before arriving in the riverside town of Regua. Once there, we’ll visit a traditional Portuguese farm before meeting up with our train at the railway station. This afternoon, we’ll enjoy beautiful mountain views as we wind our way back to Porto this evening, returning to our hotel. The balance of the evening is on your own. B L

– Today is a free day. Discover fascinating Porto on your own, shop, and explore. This evening we will meet up for a Farewell Dinner, raising our glasses to great friends, fine food and wine, and memories to last a lifetime. B D

(iii) being denied access to aircraft due to contravening the airlines conditions of carriage;
(iv) the traveller missing flight connections or departures or failing to follow instructions of tour representatives.
