Senior Accountant

Posting Date: Nov-17-2022 - Dec-01-2022 Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

As a key member in the Finance department, you will work closely with the Senior Finance Management team and have the opportunity to build strong working relationships with other departmental Managers, Directors and VP’s across the organization ensuring their financial needs are being met.

As a Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the accuracy and quality production of monthly financial statement reports as assigned;
- Preparing and /or reviewing assigned monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, including preparing working paper files / detailed account reconciliations and analysis as applicable;
- Working with detailed spreadsheets to calculate allocations and support incentive calculations;
- Periodically reviewing and analyzing cost reports for variances and reasonability;
- Preparing monthly reports for management;
- Working effectively with the corporate sales and operational teams to prepare and communicate financial information accurately and timely;
- Assisting External Auditors during annual audits and performing periodic internal process reviews; and
- Working on special projects as assigned which may relate to process improvements or the implementation of new systems and testing of new procedures.

As the ideal candidate you possess the following experience / characteristics:

- Have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in an full cycle accounting role
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel using data analysis functions including but not limited to: pivot tables, v-lookups, IF statements, and sum and % calculation formulas
- Comfortable working with computer systems, specifically working within an ERP system (we use Acumatica an intuitive and user-friendly GL system), comfortable running reports in other systems with provided instructions
- Strong analytical skills including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Ability to effectively manage time while multi-tasking competing priorities
- Able to work with minimal supervision while also being able to actively participate in a team environment with virtual meetings.
